Antwerp is a prosperous and sophisticated city, the 2nd largest in Belgium and famous as the ´diamond centre of the world´. It also boasts of being in the advance guard of young fashion design (try the Meir district) and those seeking some serious retail therapy will certainly not be disappointed.

Culture vultures too will find plenty to enjoy as the world of Rubens, who lived and worked here, survives in the many remaining examples of the city´s ´golden age´.
