Eurostar

Eurostar is a high-speed train service that connects London (St Pancras International), Paris (Gare du Nord) and Brussels (Gare du Midi). As a service for the leisure industry, Eurostar is a popular means of transport for city breaks in Europe.

Eurostar trains are 400 metres long and comprise 18 passenger carriages and 750 seats. Of these, 206 are in First Class.

All Eurostar trains are maintained to a very high standard, regardless of the class you choose. All carriages are air-conditioned and are serviced by a buffet car.

Eurostar Services

With the first public service running in November 1994, Eurostar operates 27 international trains and now travels to and from Ashford, Calais, Lille and Avignon. Eurostar also offer direct services for Eurostar break to Disneyland Resort Paris.In the skiing season, Eurostar also runs to Bourg-Saint-Maurice, Aime-la-Plagne and Moutiers in the French Alps.

With a maximum speed of 186mph, travelling by Eurostar means you can arrive in Paris from London St Pancras in 2 hours 15 minutes, London to Brussels in 1 hours 50 minutes and London to Lille in just 1 hours 20 minutes.

Eurostar trains offer maximum comfort and flexibility for your journey. In First Class Eurostar, choose from Business Premier or Leisure Select. With Business Premier you will benefit from shorter check-in times, access to the Eurostar business lounges, three-course meal, and, if desired, an ‘express breakfast’, all designed to allow the traveller to work on-board. Leisure Select lets you travel in style with Champagne, newspapers and three-course meal.

Eurostar Safety

Eurostar has an excellent safety record. Each Eurostar train has many safety features, including a unique fireproofing system, which make it one of the safest trains in the world. In case of an incident in the Channel Tunnel, Eurostar trains are divided into two so passengers can be evacuated into unaffected carriages. All on-board crew (train managers and drivers) are fully trained in First Aid.

Eurostar is a multiple award-winning train service. It has won the World Travel Award for World’s leading rail service consistently every year since 1998 and the Operator of the Year Award in both HSBC Rail and National Rail Awards (2005 and 2004). Eurostar has also won numerous awards for the trains’ architecture and people.

Future developments to Eurostar

Eurostar is continuing to develop to provide an even more flexible and speedier service. The Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) is currently being constructed which means that from 2007 journey times will be cut by twenty minutes. Completion of the CTRL project will also allow for a significant increase in the number of Eurostar trains serving London, as many as 8 per hour and will operate from new London stations at St Pancras, Stratford and Ebbsfleet (near Dartford).
