In the heart of Flanders, Lille´s traditional Flemish architecture sits comfortably with classical French ´grand boulevards´ and the cosmopolitan city buzzes with cafés, bars and good restaurants.

The Euralille shopping complex has obvious appeal but the city´s real character is seen in the main square, Place du General de Gaulle, named after Lille´s most famous son. Wander through the old Bourse, now housing flower and book stalls and don´t miss the quaint cobbled streets of ´Old Lille´ with its antiques and boutiques. Try to make time to visit one of the city´s fine museums after the Louvre, the Museum of Fine Arts has the largest collection of paintings in France.
