Sinéad O’Connor enjoyed her first success in the late eighties with ‘Mandinka’ and
‘Troy’. In 1990, she had a worldwide breakthrough with ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’,
originally by Prince, but made a true pop classic in her version.
O’Connor became famous not only because of her music, but also because of her
short hair, her turbulent life and her views upon Church and the place of woman in
society. Her controversial ideas are reflected in the lyrics of her music. |

The American alternative rock band joins Simple Minds, Sinéad O’Connor and the
comic musicians Igudesman & Joo at the concerts in the Sportpaleis.
Lead singer/frontman/guitarist Ed Kowalczyk, leadguitarist Chad Taylor, bassist
Patrick Dahlheimer and drummer Chad Gracey released ‘Mental Jewelry’, their first
album under the name Live, in 1991. It was the start of a success story lasting up
till today and resulting in 8 albums (total CD sales exceeding 20 million), a huge
international fan base and extensive touring all over the world. |

Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill, the founding members of Simple Minds, have
participated twice at the shows, in 1997 and 2002, and have always been a
audience favourite.
The Scottish band Simple Minds had its major breakthrough with the singles
‘Promised You A Miracle’ and ‘Glittering Prize’ in 1982. They have created a
ground-breaking show that defies categorization by marrying humour with music. |
