Museum

The Louvre museum in Paris is one
of the finest in the world. Works such as
the Mona Lisa and the Venus de Milo are just
two of the 35,000 pieces on display. Exhibitions
range from Egyptian and Roman Antiques right
through to one of the largest collections
of Renaissance art in the world, including
paintings by such luminaries as Raphael, Botticelli
and Leonardo Da Vinci. 
Open 9am-6pm, closed Tuesdays. Please
note that the Louvre is free of charge on
the first Sunday of every month, and free
of charge to under 18s, with proof of id. |

Musée
d'Orsay

From painting to architecture, via
sculpture, applied art of photography, the
collections at the musée d'Orsay portray
all forms of expression and the full diversity
of artistic creation in the Western world
from 1848 to 1914. Orsay first opened in 1986,
in a former railway station built in 1900
on the left bank of the seine, and it features
a remarkable asset: a large glass roof that
provides unrivalled overhead especially to
it's prestigious gallery of impressonist art,
which includes some of the finest works by
Monet, Manet, Pissaro, Van Gogh, etc., among
its many masterpieces. |

Musée
de l Orangerie

Originally built in the 19th Century,
the Musée de l’Orangerie houses
a spectacular collection of art, most notably
Claude Monet’s series of panoramic ‘Waterlillies’
tableaux, inspired by his home at Giverny,
some of which are over 12 metres in length.

Other works on display are equally impressive.
The list includes Cézanne, Renoir,
Rousseau, Matisse, Derain and Picasso, which
is why the l’Orangerie is one of the
most revered museums in the world. 
Located in the Tuileries Gardens, between
Place de la Concorde and the Louvre, the museum
is open daily except Tuesdays, from 12.30pm
until 7pm. 
For added enjoyment your one day museum pass
will also give same day access to the Louvre
Museum, or Musée d’Orsay, both
of which are a short walk from the l’Orangerie.

Museum
du quai Branly

Designed by the architect Jean Nouvel,
the new Quai Branly museum is dedicated to
the arts and civilisation of Africa, Asia,
the South Sea islands and the Americas. It
is both a museum and a cultural, research
and teaching centre, offering pertinent viewpoint
of the arts and cultures from beyond Europe's
borders. The Quai Branly museum is situated
at the foot of the Eiffel Tower and has a
permanent collection of ,3500 objects.

The museum layout invites the visitor to linger
over spotlights on important themes such as
masks from the South Sea Islands, Asian Costumes,
African musical instruments and textiles and
more. |
