Another attraction to see and understand the history of is the famous bridge in Avignon, better known as, Pont D'Avignon. According to local legends the bridge was first built by a young shepherd who had a divine intervention. Unfortunately due to wars and flooding, only four of the twenty-two original arches remain, nonetheless its heritage still lives on.
If you're lucky enough to be in Avignon in July, you'll be lucky enough to experience the Festival D'Avignon. This festival, that brings dance, music and theatre all together was first introduced in 1947 and has now become one of the biggest cultural festivals in Europe. People come from all over Europe and the rest of the world in July to enjoy the different activities and shows all around the town. It attracts over 100,000 people every year and with Avignon's pedestrian only streets, it's the perfect place to experience and educate yourself in new cultures and socialise with individuals from all walks of life.
